My stepfather recently passed away. I had known him since I was 17.
Jim Van Meter was in Vietnam as part of the 101st Airborne unit – a Green Beret. He was the pastor who jumped out of planes to be with the soldiers for support and spiritual guidance. After Vietnam he got his Doctorate in Theology. Much later, he married my mom.
He was my friend and a good and solid counselor for me. He loved God, but he also loved people – ALL people. I miss him.
